To send an order, yes — it is how we know who to hand the food to and how you track it afterwards. Building a plate does not need one: everything you add is kept on your device, and it is still there after you sign in.

Most plates are ready about twenty minutes after we confirm. Braai and anything cooked to order can be longer at the busy end of lunch, and we will say so when we confirm rather than let you stand there.

Freely, before the kitchen starts it — which is usually minutes rather than hours, because we cook to order. After that the ingredients are committed, and we may ask you to cover what has already gone in.

The menu marks it. Dishes go off during the day when something runs out, and the site reflects that within about five minutes of the kitchen changing it.

Not for single plates. Orders of ten or more, and anything arranged as catering, can be delivered hot within Chegutu.

Card or cash on collection. Nothing is charged when you send the order — we confirm the total first, so a dish that has gone off is never something you have already paid for.

Not usually — walk in and eat. Booking is worth it for a group, a weekend evening, or if you want a particular time.

No, and we would rather be honest about that than have a website pretend to hold a table nobody in the kitchen knows about. A person reads it and replies, usually the same day.

Yes. Ten plates upwards, cooked on site where there is room for the stand or delivered hot. Three days notice for most things, a fortnight for anything over a hundred.

Yes, and more than the usual afterthought — the sadza, rice and vegetable plates are proper meals rather than a side order. Tell us about allergies in the order note and we will be clear about what a shared kitchen can guarantee.

Per plate, and they can shift with the market. Big orders are confirmed with a call before anything is cooked.

A dish with no photograph draws its own picture from its name and section, so what you see is an illustration rather than that exact plate. Where there is a real photograph, it is ours and it is that dish.
